We have all been horrified learning the news about the awful tragedy in Solihull at Babbs Mill Lake where children fell into the iced lake and sadly lost their lives.
This has made me pause with my book title, blurb and cover reveal for Stark fans because by strange quirk of fate they have elements that are identical to the tragedy. While children drowning in a frozen lake is not the plot to book 8 it has a strong contextual element and an identical tragedy is the motivation for the protagonist and a flashback to the horror opens the book on page 1.
In light of this I am delaying the reveal until after Christmas, as I do not want it to seem as though I am trivialising the events or using them somehow. Not that I would, but you know what some people are like.
Also by strange quirk of fate for some reason last Sunday morning before news came out about the tragedy I sent a promo video to my Facebook website which included many of the books in the series so far, but I also included a split second glimpse of book 8's cover and title. Eagle-eyed Inspector Stark fans may have spotted it. It is still there if you are interested and as it is a split-second glimpse with no info there is no connection to the events within the video.
The book will be ready for publication early in the new year and I am excited about it. There are lots of surprises and shocks embedded in it.
If I do not get chance to blog again in the next couple of weeks may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
